Central Demolition Ranking Series - 2004-08-06 09:02:46 |
| Here are the details for the much anticipated Ranking Series to be held in the hotbed of Scottish Pool - Lanarkshire.
A newly opened club in Airdrie town centre, adeptly named Cue Here will be open for business on Sunday 8th August from 12 midday.
They will have 7 brand new Supreme tables with Hainsworth Speed Cloth as
well as the customary Juke box (playing all the oldies) and gaming machines.. The tables have plenty of room around to play on with comfortable leather seating all around the club. It has a fantastic viewing area from the bar that doesn't interfere with player’s cueing (a must in most players mind)! I was in visiting yesterday on a very hot summers day and the place was very cool, a refreshing change indeed to most pool halls!! I have given the series a lot of thought from my many years experience of attending the top events. I have tried to mix what the top players would want in a competition along with the club players to give a very balanced tournament that gives everyone a chance to compete with the best around and have a great chance to pick up prize money as well as valuable ranking points for the end of year "Masters" event. There will be a side event of 10 Ball Crash to help alleviate the boredom of waiting around for matches, again this will be fun as anyone can win at this game with good prize money to be won! All comps will be an open draw (no seeding or favouritism). The 1st two rounds of the main event will be best of 7, then increasing to best of 9 until the final that will be best of 11. Win 2 matches to get into the prize money and win your entry fee back, or even better, win 6 matches to scoop the 1st prize of £500. There will be 1 Ranking point per match won. Those unlucky enough to draw tough games and not reach the 3rd round (last 16) will have a 2nd bite at the cherry to scoop prize money in the Plate competition. This will be a FREE to enter event with over £200 prize money up for grabs + valuable Merit points which go towards the season end rankings. The format will be a 1 frame straight KO, lag for break. If the winner of the lag breaks and finishes the game, then the opponent has an opportunity to equal this feat. This is a wide open comp as anyone can win pool games on 1 frame (as I’ve no doubt most have witnessed at league pool nights!). There has been a lot of interest already for this competition as Lanarkshire and Scottish Pool have been crying out for decent one day pool events that cater for all. So much so that we have over 20 entries confirmed in the 1st few days and the club hasn’t even opened its doors yet! I suggest if anyone wants to be involved in this, then get your entry in fast as its sure to be a sell out quickly. Those who enter in advance will receive a timed draw on when their 1st match is on. The owner Gary wants to provide a 1st class venue as he has pool at heart along with the rest of us. He will provide us with undoubtedly the best venue around for playing top competition pool and has even agreed to supplying the players with a free buffet on the day of the comps. So if you cant make it to play, then why not come along and watch the best players in Scotland compete for the inaugural Central Demolition Ranking Series Championship.
