Death of Michael Lambert - Life President of the PPPO - 2004-12-08 22:20:51
It is with a very sad heart that I have to announce the death of Michael Lambert, the effervescent, life long president of the PPPO. For those comparitively new to the sport the name of Michael Lambert perhaps won't mean much, but to those of us that go back many years, the news is quite shattering. Though the exact details are unclear at the moment, it would appear he died following a long illness on Sunday. I know I can speak for many when I say his passing leaves a huge, unfillable void... As a man, he was one of the most articulate and immaculate individuals it has ever been my pleasure to be associated with. Generous almost to a fault, he cared passionately about the aims and reputation of everything to do with the PPPO. I could not count the amount of times, his contacts and generosity single handedly saved the association in which he took such unswerving pride and as a past chaiman he personified professionalism. Stick him in front of a sponsor, mayor or indeed as has been the case royalty ,and his charm and natural grace would charm and enlighten them. I will never be able to forget the countless hours I spent in his company, for it was these special moments that made my involvement in pool so worthwhile and memorable. A giant among pool personalities, with a heart bigger than almost any other, his death is both tragic and unfair. I like so many will remember him, with affection, respect, gratitude and love. On behalf of so many that were blessed to know him, can I offer his wife of a lifetime, Olive, our most genuine and heartfelt condolences. Rest in peace Michael, your legacy will live on for many years to come.
