Jersey - An Important Notice. - 2004-12-13 05:05:40
A word of warning to those yet to book up for the Jersey Festival next year. For the first time, today, a player booking was charged an extra twenty pounds on top of the brochure prices , even though the advertised prices are clearly marked- eg fly from Gatwick and pay £249. It is apparent after speaking to the hotel today that some airports and more particuarly some airlines , are now introducing surcharges...

Though we reserved an amount of tickets from each advertised airport,we obviously didn't know how many people would fly from each. Consequently when this original allocation of tickets reserved in our name have gone , we then have to re- apply on an individual basis for extra seats and as a direct consequence of doing so are facing surcharges levied onto us by the airlines. For example , so many people are coming from Wales that our reserved flights from Bristol( we couldn't get reserved flights from Cardiff ) are now all gone. Equally this scenario will soon apply to Gatwick . We ordered 55 seats, and I think there are 8 left at the advertised price. I apologise if this causes any inconvenience when booking , but the surcharges are completely out of our control. Lastly can I re-emphasise the fact that the best way of all to book from a financial point of view - even at this stage - is through the net. Many players (even the French contingent!) that have just sent in their bookings did so via the adverts on the net. As of today (10th December ), there are 114 people booked in,many of whom are Jersey Virgins ! I would like to point out to my regulars who have previously left it late to book that such a luxury may not be possible this time around...
